    Valletta

Valletta Valletta, The Three Cities, The Suburbs:

Valletta, the capital of Malta was built by the Knights of St John of Jerusalem after the great siege of 1565. It has something for every interest:

Ingenious fortification, barogue palaces, churches galore, museums, spectacular audio-visual shows, tradicional festivals, shoping, sea views, and a relaxed way of life anchored in its many open-air cafés.
Curiously, Valletta by night is a ghost town. The best time to see it is in the late afternoon, when it's at its liveliest andmost beautiful, the setting sun turning the stones to gold.

    Auberge de Castile et Léon

This is the most majestic of the auberger, the inns where the knights lived, segregated according to their geographical origin. Spanish and Portuguese knights were quartered here, originally in a less ornate version of the building designed by the Maltese architect, Gerolamo Cassar (1950-86).
He was the profilic architect odf everytrhing from St John's Cathedral to the Grand Master's Palace. The elegant baroque details were added in the 18th century. The Auberge de Castile et Léon, standing imposingly at Valletta's highest point, now serves as the office oh th eMaltese prime minister, and all you can see is the exterior.

    Republic Street
Republic Street Valletta's main street, seething with pedestrians most of the day, is called Republic Street. Weaving purposefully among the throngs of tourists. Maltese businessmen chatter into mobile phones, wearing gold chains around their throats as another sign of success.
Republic street is an ideal place for shoping, where you can find almost everythnig, from hand-mades selling on the open markets to luxurious brand warehouses.

    Floriana

Floriana view You can't miss Floriana. It's the only way into the peninsular city of Valletta by land. You will pass through this gardened suburb and it's 17th and 18th-century fortification. The wide main street is a stately introduction to Valletta.
Floriana was named after an Italian architect, Pietro Paolo Floriani, whose ambicious plans for massive 17th-century defences were completed long after his lifetime.

    Mdina, Rabat

Mdina This ancient city Mdina stands like a sentinel on the high ground in the western region of Malta. Its high position dominates the countryside and the sloping land which extends to the eastern shoreline. The site had been an ideal natural stronghold for its inhabitants in Neolithic times.
It continued to be so for many years, when the island was a base for Punic traders and, later, a colonial settlement of imperial Rome.
"The Silent City" still maintains its primacy as the ecclesiastical capital of Malta and as the refuge of the Maltese nobility.
    "Medieval Times Experience"

The Medieval Times Experience is one of Mdina's most popular visitor attractions. It is a medieval adventure , that is conjured up using electronic wizardry, in light, sound and smells. Your 14th and 15th Century pilgrimage starts from the very beginning, where you can see Builders actually erecting medieval palazzos.
Along the way you will meet Butcher, Plasterer, and Sentry in his look out post guarding the medieval walls. One can see family life in a Carpenters house, Blacksmith, Lords, Marketseller in street corners and much much more! The medieval Times appeals to people of all ages and is situated an the heart of 17th Century palace, Palazzo Notabile, inside the Mdina walls.
